Have Your Social Media Stand out Using These Five Photo/Video Apps

Nowadays, you have to up your game on Instagram. Beautiful, eye-catching photos and videos are constantly taking up the space on your newsfeed, and who doesn’t like it when their profile grid is spectacularly on point? The little squares that showcase what you like and who you love should be high-quality – no one wants to see a bunch of blurry, grainy pictures that are unappealing to the eye. Luckily, there are hundreds of photo and video apps available online, and here are Rsquare Media’s top five to choose from.

First up on the list is Snapseed, a beautiful and simple all-purpose photo editor for image enhancements. This app does it all – it gives the user a variety of options to work with concerning lighting, sharpening and of course cropping and rotating. Not only does it come with a huge variety of filters, it also allows    users to make selective adjustments. This allows you to brighten up that shadowy face in the back of the photograph, or to contrast Becky’s glowing face against the similar background. This app is available on the App Store.

Another app that really shines through with its efficiency is VSCO. This app is all-in-one: you can edit and enhance images just like every other app, as well as use elegant filters specially designed for VSCO users. The filters are subtle and add a very beautiful touch to the photographs. VSCO also serves as an online photo sharing platform – VSCO users can share photographs using the app with other fellow photographers and designers. They may also choose to publish the photos directly onto Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat. This app is available on the App Store and Google Play, as well as PC platforms.

Another great app is called Camera+: the app has many photo editing tools to update your photo editing skills. Along with the usual features, Camera+ also

has a Stabilizer shooting mode to help you take sharp photos. A special part of the app called Clarity is designed to make adjustments to improve upon photos. Want to capture that beautiful fire on the night of the annual barbeque? Just turn to this app and you’ll have it under control. This app is available on the App Store and Google Play.

An app that really caught my eye was iMovie. I had used the software on MAC desktops before, however the phone version of Apple’s iMovie was very easy

to use and apply. Its interface was very similar to that of MAC desktop versions, and it made it incredibly easy to cut and edit videos in any way I wished. Not only can you use the tools to shorten or lengthen the videos, you can add text, music, transitions and voiceovers – all on your phone! This app is available on the App Store.

Last on our list, PowerDirector, a great video editing software, is available to be used on your phone. The app resembles iOs’ famous iMovie app, and displays a user-friendly but powerful editing tool that can be used to edit, cut, lengthen or change any video on your phone. You are also able to add a title and set of features such as filters and transitions. What I also liked about this app is that the initial cost is simply $3.88, and this helps you remove the watermark that is present on all free videos created by the app. This app is available on Google Play.

Utilizing spherical cameras, companies are creating interactive 360
videos and immersive experiences akin to virtual reality to market their products and services.

More and more companies are providing their consumers with a complete immersive experience of their products—literally. Filmed with an omnidirectional or multiple cameras, 360 degree videos are recordings that record views in all directions simultaneously, allowing the viewers to have a full perspective point of view. In order to change the point of view, mobile users can simply tilt their phone see new angles while desktop users can use their curser to drag the view of the video. According to Maria Lauret, Editor for Huffington Post, 360 videos are made through “stitching”. Utilizing footage from various cameras, the individual clips are synchronized and “stitched
together” to generate a single panoramic image.

Game changing Virtual Reality (VR) from Android (Project Tango)

Hot new VR tech - Project Tango from Android

Virtual reality (VR) typically refers to computer technologies that use software to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that replicate a real environment (or create an imaginary setting), and simulate a user’s physical presence in this environment, by enabling the user to interact with this space and any objects depicted therein using specialized display screens or projectors and other devices. VR has been defined as “…a realistic and immersive simulation of a three-dimensional environment, created using interactive software and hardware, and experienced or controlled by movement of the body” or as an “immersive, interactive experience generated by a computer”.

A person using virtual reality equipment is typically able to “look around” the artificial world, move about in it and interact with features or items that are depicted on a screen or in goggles. Most 2016-era virtual realities are displayed either on a computer monitor, a projector screen, or with a virtual reality headset (also called head-mounted display or HMD). HMDs typically take the form of head-mounted goggles with a screen in front of the eyes. Programs may include audio and sounds through speakers or headphones. Virtual reality environment may be captured using 360° stereoscopic spherical video and 360×360 surround sound from professional VR video cameras.
